Learn Ashtanga the way it was given to me.

A complete 200-hour Ashtanga training with Andrew Eppler. One curriculum, three ways to study it. Online, in Oklahoma, or in Mysore, India.

Yoga Alliance Registered School · RYS 200 · 200-Hour Certification, RYT 200 · Taught by E-RYT 500 Andrew Eppler

I have practiced this method nearly every morning for forty years, and it still surprises me. That is what I want to pass on. Not a credential to hang on a wall, but a practice you can carry for the rest of your life, and the understanding to teach it honestly.

This program grew out of decades of study in Mysore, where I trained with Śrī B.N.S. Iyengar and worked alongside Sanskrit scholars and elders who carry the philosophy that shaped Śrī Kṛṣṇamācārya's teaching. You learn the Primary Series in detail, and you learn where it comes from. The darśanas, the Yoga Sūtras, the Bhagavad Gītā, studied with people who have given their lives to them.

There are three ways to study with us. They share one curriculum and one standard. They differ only in how close you want to come.

From Students

I first met Andrew in Los Angeles in 1997. His dedication to practice and his mastery of advanced asana and pranayama were exceptional. Reconnecting with him decades later in Mysore has been invaluable. These courses let me keep learning with professors I first studied with in Mysore in the nineties.

Kiki Flynn

Some of the most interesting and insightful teaching I have experienced. Andrew has deep connections with the established Mysore scholars, and the teachings are rich and varied. From the online courses with Dr. Alwar to the immersion in Melkote, this is an experience that will change you.

Mysore has been a center of yogic study for centuries. In this training you meet the living community Ashtanga grew out of, not a story about it.

The Approach

Studied with the people who carry it.

Most programs teach you the postures. We teach you the postures and the thought behind them. Throughout the training you study with Sanskrit scholars in Mysore, among them Dr. M.A. Alwar, Senior Professor at Maharaja's Sanskrit College and a leading authority on Viśiṣṭādvaita philosophy. He is Andrew's teacher and mentor and a co-organizer of the Mysore Yoga Conference.

This is the Viśiṣṭādvaita reading of yoga that shaped Śrī Kṛṣṇamācārya's teaching, carried in the Nāthamuni Sampradāya of South India. You do not have to take my word for any of it. The tradition is open, and you can study it for yourself.

What that means in practice is simple. The training is not built only around the postures, but around the living tradition that gave Ashtanga its depth.

See For Yourself

Watch the film before you decide.

My trainings are shaped by, and created in cooperation with, my teachers in Mysore. Mysore Yoga Traditions, the feature documentary I directed there, is the clearest window into that work. It draws on interviews with the scholars, elders, and practitioners this program is rooted in. If you want to understand the perspective behind the training, start there.

Why People Stay

Growing up, I never really felt like I belonged. That changed when I started practicing with Andrew and the community in Norman. Learning from teachers who speak truth so plainly has opened up so much. I am really happy to be part of it.

These online courses have let me study with some of India's great living yoga scholars. For those of us who cannot regularly travel to India, it is an opportunity we might not have had otherwise. They have given me a deeper experience of yoga and made me a better teacher.

Questions

Before you begin.

Is this only for people who want to teach?

No. Many people come to deepen their own practice. The training prepares you to teach, and it is just as much about understanding the practice from the inside.

Can I start online and join in person later?

Yes. The online curriculum is the foundation for all three formats, so you can begin from home and add the Oklahoma weekends or the Mysore immersion when you are ready.

Do I need advanced postures?

No. You need sincerity, consistency, and a willingness to study. The training is built around understanding the method, not performing difficult āsana.

How do I choose the right format?

Online is best for flexibility. Oklahoma is best for direct, hands-on work with Andrew. Mysore is best for full immersion in the tradition. All three share the same curriculum and the same standard.
