Online 200-Hour Training
The whole tradition, wherever you practice.
A complete 200-hour Ashtanga training you can begin today, from anywhere in the world. Self-paced video, live study with the scholars of Mysore, and personal mentorship with Andrew Eppler.
Study From Anywhere
For most of the history of this practice, the only way to study it deeply was to go to Mysore and stay.
I first went there in 1990 to study with Śrī K. Pattabhi Jois, and over the years I trained with Śrī B.N.S. Iyengar and sat with the Sanskrit scholars and elders who carry the philosophy behind Śrī Kṛṣṇamācārya's teaching. What I learned in those rooms is the reason I still practice nearly every morning, forty years on.
Most people cannot move to India for a year. That used to mean the depth of this tradition stayed out of reach. It no longer does. This online training is the whole curriculum, the same one I teach in Oklahoma and in India, opened up so you can study it from anywhere in the world, at the pace your life allows.
It was built for depth, not for speed. There is no shortcut here. What there is, is a real way into a living tradition, and the time and guidance to walk it honestly.
Mysore Yoga Traditions
Yoga is a gift for all humanity.
Picture The Year
What a year inside it feels like.
Here is what it actually looks like. You roll out your mat in the early quiet and move through the Primary Series, breath by breath, until the sequence lives in your body and not only in your memory. Later, out walking with a lecture playing in your earbuds, you hear a scholar in Mysore move slowly through a single line of the Yoga Sūtras, the way it has been studied there for generations, and an idea you have been turning over for weeks quietly settles into place.
None of it arrives all at once. It accumulates. A posture that once seemed out of reach becomes ordinary. An idea you only half understood becomes something you can feel in your own practice. Month by month, the work stops being something you do and becomes a way you live.
A practice for life
Not a certificate you file away. A daily practice that has held up for me across forty years, and the understanding to keep it honest on your own.
A real education
You will read the Sāṅkhya Kārikā, the Yoga Sūtras, and the Bhagavad Gītā with people who have studied them their whole lives. Genuine scholarship, not a summary of it.
A credential you can lead with
You finish recognized by Yoga Alliance, by Ashtanga Yoga Studio, and by the Samskriti Foundation in Mysore. Enough to lead with confidence, whether that becomes your living or deepens the work you already do.
How It Works
Start today. Study at your pace.
Enroll and the full platform is yours for twelve months. You can finish in as little as three months or take the whole year. The structure is there when you want it, and it waits for you when life gets busy.
Self-paced video
More than 150 hours of guided video, organized so each subject builds on the last. The Primary Series in detail, breath and chanting, philosophy, anatomy, and methodology.
Live study with Mysore scholars
Up to three live sessions a week with Sanskrit scholars and teachers in Mysore. You can listen, or you can ask your own questions. This is the part students tell me they did not expect to find online.
Time with Andrew
A monthly group session with me to keep you on track, plus three private one to one calls for personal feedback. Optional ongoing mentorship if you want to go further.
The Curriculum

The Scholars
The real reason to study online here.
Most online courses are a teacher and a camera. This one puts you in front of the Sanskrit scholars of Mysore. Among them is Dr. M.A. Alwar, Senior Professor at Maharaja's Sanskrit College and a leading authority on Viśiṣṭādvaita philosophy. He is my teacher and mentor and a co-organizer of the Mysore Yoga Conference. He teaches the Bhagavad Gītā course in the program and gives the final examination in philosophy.
This is the Viśiṣṭādvaita reading of yoga that shaped Śrī Kṛṣṇamācārya's teaching, carried in the Nāthamuni Sampradāya of South India. For most students, studying it with the people who hold it would mean a long stay in India. Here it reaches you where you are.
As far as I know, there is no other 200-hour training taught this directly by the Sanskrit scholars of Mysore. That is not a slogan. It is simply rare, and it is the reason this program exists.
See For Yourself
Watch the film before you decide.
Mysore Yoga Traditions is the feature documentary I directed in Mysore, built from interviews with the scholars, elders, and practitioners this training is rooted in. It is the clearest picture of the work behind the program. If you want to understand the perspective first, start there.
Certification
What you finish with.
Complete the work and you graduate with a 200-hour certification recognized by Yoga Alliance (RYT 200), Ashtanga Yoga Studio in the United States, and the Samskriti Foundation in Mysore, India.
To graduate you will
- Write short essays on the Bhagavad Gītā and the Patañjali Yoga Sūtras.
- Memorize the Ashtanga Primary Series and the eight limbs of yoga.
- Pass an oral exam in methodology with me.
- Pass a final oral examination in philosophy with Dr. M.A. Alwar.
Want hands-on time too? Online students are welcome at the monthly in-person weekends in Oklahoma for $150 a weekend, held at the Magic Forest about thirty minutes from Norman.
Your Teacher
Andrew Eppler
Forty years of practice, thirty-five of teaching. I first studied in Mysore in 1990 with Śrī K. Pattabhi Jois, and have trained for many years with Śrī B.N.S. Iyengar, who, now one hundred years old, is the oldest living teacher of Ashtanga Yoga. E-RYT 500, and director of Mysore Yoga Traditions.
From Students
These online courses have let me study with some of India's great living yoga scholars. For those of us who cannot regularly travel to India, it is an opportunity we might not have had otherwise. They have given me a deeper experience of yoga and made me a better teacher.
Lea Bender
I first met Andrew in Los Angeles in 1997. Reconnecting with him decades later in Mysore has been invaluable. These courses let me keep learning with professors I first studied with in Mysore in the nineties.
