200-Hour Ashtanga Training
Welcome to Your Training
A self-paced study of the practice and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga, with Andrew Eppler.
Congratulations on taking the first step. This is a comprehensive study of Ashtanga Yoga, both the practice on the mat and the thought behind it. You have twelve months to complete the program, and you move at your own pace. Most people find that about nine months of steady work covers the material, with the rest of the time held in reserve for life and for review.
The course is built in four areas, and each one builds on the last. Begin with Foundations for the broad overview, then choose the area you want to study next. The information is all here, but it stays theoretical until you use it. Practice it, teach it to a friend, and let it become yours.
The Course
The Four Areas of Study
Work through these in order, starting with Foundations. The three study pages are password protected, and the password for each is noted on its card.
Foundations
Start here. The opening videos that set the tone for everything that follows: developing your eye for observation, memorizing the Primary Series, and the roots of the tradition.
02Yoga Methodology
How a practice is built and taught, the psychology of teaching, and how to hold yourself well as a teacher in front of a room.
03History and Philosophy
A deep look into Indian thought, from the Yoga Sūtras to the Bhagavad Gītā, drawn from the Sanskrit tradition of Mysore.
04Physiology and Healing Arts
Reading the patterns and asymmetries of the body, and the therapeutic tools to work with them safely and well.
Getting Started
How to Begin
Listen early and often
Start with the Foundations videos, then open the History and Philosophy course early. Treat those talks like something you listen to while you go about your day. Let them run, absorb them slowly, and they will deepen everything else.
Keep a personal practice
Your practice should hold three things: yoga therapy, which is mindful, healing movement; asana, at least Surya Namaskar and ideally the Primary Series; and pranayama and meditation, the internal work that steadies the body and mind.
Practice teaching
Guide a friend or a family member through a few postures. Even informal teaching will show you the hands-on work far faster than watching alone, and it makes the adjustments your own.
Watch the Mysore Archive
Steady exposure to the source material lets the knowledge settle and integrate over time. Return to the Mysore Archive often as you go.
As part of the training you also have full access to the Pranayama Course. Begin with the preliminary techniques and the work on breath and bandha. Starting early gives you time to fold these into your daily routine.

Live Classes and Community
You are part of an international group of practitioners, and the live sessions are where we meet.
Weekly class
Every Sunday at 11am CST, which is 18:00 in Western Europe and 19:00 in Eastern Europe. Free to attend, held in the studio Zoom room.
Monthly live trainings
Once a month we gather for a longer weekend session. You are not required to attend the whole time, but it means a great deal if you join for the first hour on Saturday and Sunday to hear the opening talk and meet the group. Recordings are shared afterward through Google Drive. Download anything you want to keep, since older recordings are cleared periodically to save space.
One-on-one calls
You have up to three private Zoom calls with Andrew, on your practice or on anything in the curriculum. They are not required, but they are there for you. It is up to you to arrange them, so write to Andrew with a few times that suit you and a list of what you would like to cover. You may record the calls for later study.
The WhatsApp group
This is a community experience, and we want to hear from you as you go. Join the group to connect with other students, ask questions, and share what you are finding.

In My Own Words
A Note on How I Teach
In the Nāthamuni Sampradāya, the tradition we follow, a teacher speaks without leaning on written notes. It is a direct transmission of experience and worldview, and what you truly take in is what becomes yours. Everything else is simply information.
I may ramble at times. That is part of how I teach, and you would find the same if you sat in my classes in Norman. So treat this the way you would any class. Take notes on what lands for you. You do not have to agree with everything I say, and if you think I am wrong on a point, please write to me. The aim is for you to engage with the material and make it your own. You have my full support and blessing as long as you stay true to your own understanding.
Begin When You Are Ready
Enjoy the Journey
You have a long and rewarding road ahead. Start with the Foundations, keep a steady practice, and reach out whenever you need to. I am at your service.
