Science of Yoga Adjustments with Andrew Eppler

July 13-14 with Andrew Eppler

Discover the art of giving and receiving adjustments in yoga postures! Whether you are a yoga instructor or a student looking to deepen your understanding of body mechanics, safety, and effective techniques for opening the body, this is a perfect opportunity to learn and grow.

Adjustments in yoga should provide students with a sense of release, expansion, and freedom of movement while ensuring they feel grounded, stable, at ease, and completely safe. When students feel grounded and safe, their bodies can relax and respond to intelligent guidance, allowing them to move into or toward the desired posture naturally.

Moving the body through its natural range of motion doesn't require force but rather understanding, guidance, sensitivity, and correct perception. These are the qualities we aim to cultivate.

We will harness natural forces such as gravity, massage, resistance, and the fluidity of the breath. Instead of relying on strength, we'll use our intelligence and the breath as the vehicle for movement.

In this course, we'll cover all the key asanas typically adjusted in the primary series of Ashtanga practice. You'll learn various adjustment techniques tailored to common injuries, different body types, and alignment issues.

Enhance your ability to assist with yoga postures! In this 10-hour intensive course, Andrew Eppler will teach you how to adjust yoga postures safely and effectively, drawing on over 35 years of teaching experience. Andrew will share his top adjustments gathered from yoga communities around the world. Whether you're a teacher or a practitioner, this workshop promises to be enjoyable and informative. It's a chance to improve your skills and understand the nuances of hands-on adjustments in yoga.

You'll learn a comprehensive set of proven adjustment techniques for backbends, forward bends, twists, and arm balances. This workshop is designed to provide you with the tools and confidence to elevate your adjustments and your yoga practice. Additionally, you'll receive a video tutorial for continued study.

Schedule

Saturday July 13 11am - 6pm (six hours of workshop with a one hour lunch break)

Saturday we will study the material in detail. We will begin with safety, reading body language, noticing markers of imbalance and risk assessment. Each technique will be carefully explained. Many of the approaches taught in this workshop can be applied to a limitless number of postures once they are fully understood. There will be hands on interaction as we cultivate sensitivity of touch and make sure everyone thoroughly understands each technique.

Sunday July 14 2pm - 6pm (four hours with a bathroom break in the middle)

In Sunday’s session we will build upon what we learned the day before. Using Chakra Format (rotating circles which allow everyone maximum experience in adjusting) we will be carefully practicing each of the techniques so that you understand how they work through hands on experience. Safety and communication are always emphasized. We will also work with verbal cues and how to communicate effectively.

*Each person who registers will receive a hi def video of all the techniques taught in the workshop for reference and further study.
