Ancient Healing Immersion
Sunday August 18,11am-6pm
Healing and Nature. Take a day to heal yourself! Practice yoga, take a swim and a mud bath, and then learn about Traditional Thai Massage! You will learn an ancient healing science that combines stretching, breathing, massage and assisted yoga postures.
Healing begins with being in the right state for it to happen. Open your body with an all levels yoga class. then have a swim in our spring-fed creek and cleans your body with a mud bath! We will then proceed with an introduction to bodywork that is designed for yoga practitioners. We will spend 4 hours exploring Thai Massage. You will be taken through each movement step by step with safety in mind. You can attend alone or with a friend. We use a chakra style teaching method which rotates constantly so that everyone works with a different person every few minutes. You will both give and receive massage. You will walk out feeling great with a new set of skills to practice!
The workshop will be at Magic Forest
20180 Fulkerson Rd. Noble Ok 73068
Experience the healing magic of the Magic Forest! Spend a day with us in pristine nature while you enrich your knowledge of yoga and healing in a fun workshop with Andrew Eppler. Traditional Thai Massage, also sometimes called Thai Yoga Massage, began to evolve over a thousand years ago in Thailand and incorporates influences from both Indian and Chinese traditions. The Thai massage system focuses on circulating vital energy through major pathways referred to as sen lines. These energy lines are massaged, and important pressure points along them are stimulated to increase the flow of energy and restore balance and harmony. Thai Massage practitioners learn to maintain a state of concentration throughout the session, incorporating Buddhist practices of mindfulness, breath awareness, and compassion.
This traditional healing art form is very different from Western massage therapies. Rather than simply rubbing muscles, the body is compressed, stretched, and rocked in a way that effectively opens blockages and relieves tension. The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees, and feet to create a thoroughly relaxing and healing experience for the recipient. During a Thai Massage, the joints are gently opened, tendons and ligaments stretched, internal organs toned, and overall energy balanced and restored. The effect of a full-body Thai Massage is often a powerful and rejuvenating mind/body healing experience. We will also explore ways to maintain the benefits of this powerful bodywork in our daily yoga practices.
Andrew Eppler is the director of Ashtanga Yoga Studio and has studied Thai Massage for over 25 years. He first began his journey with this style of work in Chiang Mai, Thailand, at the Old Medicine Hospital, where he completed rigorous and in-depth training. He has studied with expert teachers in Austria, England, and Greece, and completed his Level 1 and 2 training at the TMC School of Thai Massage with Chock Petchprom in 2014. This workshop will teach a balanced blend of yoga and bodywork techniques designed to provide everyone with a great experience and effective tools to help themselves and others.
