Ashtanga Yoga Intensive Training

or
can be attended like an individual workshop

This is one of our favorite areas!
A sincere yoga practitioner should know their stuff when it comes to what yoga means and where it came from. We will go in depth with input from both traditional Indian views and modern thought as well. Yoga is a specific philosophy and we will look at it carefully as well as where it came from and what is known to date about the ancient origins of yoga.

This weekend we will focus on the ancient history of Yoga (Vedic period) and explore what is known about yoga’s origins. Then we will go into the philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga and look at philosophy of Patanjali and the 8 limbs of yoga.

  • Traditional views of Yoga philosophy from experts in the field

  • Access to a vast library of original video content

  • Study Patanjali Sutras and Bhagavad Gita

  • Sankhya Philosophy

  • History of Modern yoga based on the latest research in the field

  • In depth group discussion about the meaning of yoga philosophy in our contemporary paradigm

Will there be asana practice? Of course!

As always our weekends include asana practice and study of adjustments and yoga technique. We always create a well rounded and fun yoga experience for you!

We will enjoy a full yoga practice and study teaching methods first. Our morning will be spent getting into a blissful state through the practice of yoga postures, mudras and breathing techniques. Everyone will get a great yoga practice in while more experienced students practice some teaching skills. All information about yoga is absorbed better when we are in the state of yoga and feeling good in our bodies after physical practices.

Our History and Philosophy section is hugely influenced by Mysore Yoga Traditions and the preservation of Philosophy in Mysore India.
